9th GRADE BAND CLASS REGISTRATION
Which band class should I register for? Sign up for "Instrumental Music: Band Intermediate" for BOTH SEMESTERS. This is the Concert Band class. Do not sign up for Beginning Band, because you are not a beginner.
How do I register for Concert Band? Concert Band ("Instrumental Music: Band Intermediate") is an elective class. You register for it when you register for all of your high school classes.
Can I take Concert Band and also be in A.P. classes so that my college application is competitive? Yes. Students do this every year. You can do it. See an example of a schedule here that includes band and all the other classes you need. In fact, to be competitive with your college application, you need to be in leadership roles in extracurricular activities. Band, especially Marching Band, is an opportunity to do that. Band makes you more competitive, not less competitive.

MARCHING BAND REGISTRATION
Is Concert Band class the same thing as Marching Band? No. They are two completely separate things. Concert Band is a class, but Marching Band is an extracurricular (after school) activity. Like how gym is a class, but football is an extracurricular activity.
Is Marching Band a class? No. Concert Band is a class, but Marching Band is an extracurricular (after school) activity.
Is Marching Band required if I want to play in the Concert Band? No. But it is really fun and you should do it.

MARCHING BAND COLOR GUARD
Colorguard is a section of marching band. Guard members spin flags and rifles, and they are the section most responsible for visual flair in a marching band show. As Sanderson does not have a dance program, this is the perfect place for students with dance experience to find their niche in the Sanderson community. In addition to participation in fall marching band, colorguard students are given the opportunity in the spring to participate in an indoor competitive season called Winterguard. Sign up to dance in the band Color Guard at https://www.sandersonband.com/registration
PARENT INVOLVEMENT
The Sanderson band program has a vibrant Band Boosters organization, and they need your help. Learn more at https://www.sandersonband.com/boosters
Friday, October 17, is Sanderson High School Marching Band "Futures Night"!!!
What is it?
Our 8th grade band students have been invited to play with the Sanderson High School Marching Band at a home football game!
This annual band event, called "Futures Night", is an opportunity for our students to see what band is like in high school, make new friends, and have a lot of fun together at the football game. Every year, the kids who participate have told me "I can't wait to do band in high school now, that was so much fun!" I hope you will make plans for your child to participate.
There will be a free pizza party supper for the participating band students, and their admission to the game is free. Family and friends would have to purchase a ticket to the football game if they want to attend the game.
